Riser Fairings

Reel Power ME's Full Time Riser Fairings are designed to suppress Vortex Induced Vibrations (VIV) and reduce the impact of forces caused by the water currents against a Drilling Riser or Steel Catenary Riser (SCR). The Riser Fairings help to reduce the effects of repetitive stress forces caused by vortex induced vibrations (VIV) and ocean currents against the structure, mooring system, well risers, flow-lines, sales pipelines, stress joints or flex joints.

The Full Time Riser Fairings are designed to stay in the water full time but can be easily retrieved and re-deployed at any time. Riser Fairings are most beneficial in the upper 1,000 ft. of water column where the forces are the strongest. The Riser Fairings can be used in conjunction with a Drilling Riser Centralizer (DRC)system because they can be handled below the DRC. When used on a Drilling Riser they can be installed either during deployment or after the drilling riser is in place. The riser fairings can be left in the water during riser recovery to reduce the impact of water current forces until the last 1,000 ft. of drilling riser is being recovered. Full Time Riser Fairings can be installed, retrieved or re-installed at any time during drilling or after drilling is completed because they are installed around the drilling riser or SCR and are not fixed to the riser. The riser does not have to be moved because the riser fairings are installed using an independent Winch and Chain system. The riser fairings do not take rig-time to run and they are easily stored below the moon pool deck or on the SCR landing porch eliminating the need to use valuable deck space for storage.
